  • Productive

I have had quite a productive morning. I'm actually quite pleased with myself for doing what I have this morning around the house.  It's a cool feeling.  The other fun thing going on in my house this week is the fact that my husband and I have been detoxing our bodies.  We are starting to make changes to become healthier, and this is the first step.  Yeah for only having 3 days left of this.  I can't wait to sink my teeth into bread again...I'm very much looking forward to it.

I do have to say, I have learned quite a bit already...and am excited about learning more!  Time to go make my lunchtime salad!

  • Jonathan is strep free!  Thank goodness.  His ped did give him a prescription to help him with his cough and nasally stuff...thankfully he's starting to feel better.  Now to get us both healthy and keep us all healthy for the the winter.

    Happy Halloween!

  • It's official, I have strep.  I'm taking Jonathan to see his doctor in just over an hour...of course with the help of my mom.  Thank goodness she has today off...this could be a nightmare of buses if it wasn't the case.  He's not been feeling too good from what I can tell...but yet, he's a happy baby.  I'm blessed to say the least with him.

I'll update on how the ped appointment went after.

  • Hi there!

I realized today that it's been a while since I've posted anything.  So, here we go...and update on what's been happening around here.

I'm not feeling too good currently.  My throat has been so sore and I have almost no energy.  On top of me being sick, my son has an awful runny nose that is massively affecting his ability to breathe well.  I'm quite grateful though that he can breathe through his mouth.  I've been trying to help him out with it by giving him the tiniest amount of children's benedryl.  It help him to breathe easier and get some rest so that he can enjoy playing.  I know that some will not agree with me on my choice, but so far it's helping him out, which is important.

I'm excited that my business with Lia Sophia is taking off because of the upcoming holiday season.  This is definately my busy time...and I love it.  I'm excited to get my check on Monday...from 3 shows, I've made over $500!  So I treated myself in my success.  I got my hair highlighted and a new stroller for my son.   I'll take a moment to throw this out there for anyone who would be interested in getting jewelry for friends or family members for Christmas.  You can  go to my website www.liasophia.com/samanthagabhart and take a peek at the catalog. If you are interested in anything, you can click on how to purchase, enter my name: Samantha Gabhart, and purchse online.  I will have things sent directly to you!  Lia Sophia also has a great special always going on...this month's is one of my favorite...Buy 2 items at regular price, get 1 at 50% off (which is the MOST expemsive) plus up to 3 necklaces at 50% off as well.  What I love about this company is that everything comes with a lifetime guarentee! So, if you don't like something, simply send it back for something else...no questions asked!

Ok...I'm really excited about the stroller we just got.  I had an umbrella stroller.  It was alright, but it hurt my back quite a bit because of how low the handles were. So I was wanting to replace it with something that's a bit friendlier to my back and something that folded up small...and easily.  Since I take the bus to go anywhere during the day, this was very important to me.  We just had a Babies R Us/Toys R Us super store open up this last weekend, and so we went for a visit.  The inital objective was not to get a stroller, but to let my husband play with the car seat that I had done research on and found to be the best for my criteria.  I had played with it already at another BRU, so it was his turn.  Wow...I was happy to see that he liked it as much as I did...and that our son likes it too!  If anyone is interested in getting a copy of the research that I did, let me know.

So after we played with the car seats, I went over to the strollers to play, which is something that you just have to do in BRU...play with the merchandise...and then put it back when you are done.  What was great is that my husband, although correctly concerned about our finances, understood that not killing our backs would in the end cost less than investing in a new stoller, let me get one!  We got the Combi Helio.  It's awesome.  It lays flatter than most and collapes down with ease.  It also folds into 3...which rocks...and the coolest part....it's got a shoulder strap!  I love that.  Neeedless to say, it's going to make things much easier for bus rides and when we travel over thanksgiving!  The price wasn't too bad either, which made me happy.

Well, I've got to run...That's just a little bit of an update on what's going on here.  Hopefully it won't be as long until my next update!

  • Another Mom poll...I really need input this time.

Ok...so instead of having a hypothetical situation, I'm going to throw out there a real situation that I'm dealing with currently.  I really would like your input as I am pretty well ticked off at this point.

    Here we go.

I work for an organization once a week teaching the beginning drama class.  My son has to come with me because as of right now, there is no one to watch him.  Once I get to the location where I teach, the Area Coordinator's daughter takes my son so that I can hopefully teach uninterrupted.  Monday is week 5 of 10.  The past couple of weeks, my son's caregiver has had him the entire time as she said that she could watch him for the entire time, rather than just the first couple of minutes.  That has now been overturned by her mom and my husband has to be there to pick him up asap after he gets off of work. (This isn't the biggest issue, we can work with this).

The AC in an email to me has called my child disruptive because he fusses while I teach because he wants me.  (For goodness sake...he's only 7 months old).  She has brought the issue up with the office, and has found out that no children of teachers are allowed at any point at the location unless they are in class.  With that being said, the office has instructed her to find a replacement for me immediately if I can not get the issue resolved, and that I am not to teach until it has been.  Since we had already had a previous agreement, she is letting me finish out the semester and not finding a replacement for now.  As for other sessions, I had already committed to teaching.  She isn't even giving me the chance to find someone to watch my son.  She has already pretty much replaced me.  She did say that if I am able to find someone to let her know, but I can not be guaranteed my position as a teacher because we all go from semester to semester.

What would you do in this situation?

Thanks for the friends' request. I've been at this mom business a mighty long time. The secret: relax and go with the flow. I'll blog some good stuff along the way, I hope:)
